Force, Pressure, Stress, Strain

Force

Force

force is any influence that causes a free body to undergo an acceleration.

The formula: F= m X a

F= m X a
(f) : Force - newton (N) , (m): mass - kilogram (kg),
(a): acceleration - m/s2

Application:
Force Sensor which is a transducer that converts an input mechanical force into an electrical output signal.Force Sensors are also commonly known as Force Transducers.

Pressure
Pressure is the force per unit area applied in a direction perpendicular to
the surface of an object

The Formula:
P=F/A

(p): pressure - pascal (pa)
(F): force - Newton (N)
(A): area - m2

Application:

A pressure sensor measures pressure, typically of gases or liquids.

Stress

Stress is the average amount of force exerted per unit area on an object.

The formula:
Fn/A
(Fn): normal force - newton
(A): area - m2

Strain
Strain is a geometrical measure of deformation representing the relative displacement between particles in a material body.

The Formula:
Strain=change in L/L
(L): length - m

Application:
A strain gauge is a device used to measure the strain of an object.
